B2 visa extension

I am applying B2 visa extension for my parents. I have the following two questions

1) in part1 of form I-539 there is Expires On Date to be filled next to the current non-immigrant status. my question is, the date to be filled here is the B2 visa expiry date or the I-94 expiry date?

2) Per the instructions in the form it says we have to send the original I-94 cards for the applicants. But on this website under extension of visitor visa topic it has be advised to send only a photocopy of the cards. This is kind of confusing.

Can anyone please advise me. Thanks for you help in advance..

1. I-94 date.
2. No original I-94 to be sent. On visitor visa extension page, we have a link to USCIS that explains why it is not needed.
I-539 form is old.
