Hello,
I am a J1 student and staying with my wife who is on J2 status. Even though we are maintaining legal status till August, 2011 (DS-2019), our visa was expired in August, 2009. My wife has to visit India but I will be staying in US. My question is that whether she can appear for visa renewal on her own or my presence is required since my visa is also expired. I have no plans to go right now but if she cannot appear for visa interview, I have to go back and apply for visa renewal for both of us.
Please help us in getting out of this dilemma.
