Tax filing query for spouse on H4

I am on H1 visa and got married on Jan 09 and would be moving back to India permanently on Dec 09.

In Jan 09 I have added my wife as my dependent on form W-4 for tax purpose.

My question is how would I fill my 09 taxes, since my wife do not have an SSN and I suppose I can file for ITIN only when I file taxes (but I will be in India at that time). Would I be able to take tax exemption of filing as married

Any guidance for above case would be helpful

You can still get a ITIN for your wife.

You will still have to file the tax returns, ecven though you will be in India as you will have spent more than 183 days in the US. When you file those returns, you will file for your wife's ITIN.

DONT FORGET TO FILE TAX RETURN on time.
