View Full Version : Enter U.S. while waiting for E2 visa?

About 2 weeks ago, I was trying to enter U.S. but I was denied because they told me E2 visa is required me to get into U.S. and do business (which I knew about). I told them I was going down to continue setting up my company, but they still denied my entry to the country.
Shortly afterward, I filed my E2 visa application and I'm waiting here in Canada restlessly.

Is it wise for me to attempt to enter U.S. while I'm waiting? Is it very likely that they are going to deny my entry again?

Is there anyone with similar experience out there?

Please help!

When you attempted to enter the US 2 weeks ago, did you request admission in B-1 status?

B-1 is the tourist visa, right? I do have B-1 visa (the one that I made before I became Canadian citizen). When they stopped me and asked if I had a visa, I showed them my B-1 visa.

To answer your question, I guess I did request admission in B-1 status

Depending on where you are with your business, you may be able to try a B-1entry to set up the company first (spend some money, hire some employees, etc.) You should explore this option with your legal counsel. I would suggest preparing documentation to present upon entry rather than just appearing without anything.
