Min time requierd to be on F-1 before applying to OPT

Hi,

I started my masters 3 months ago.
I'm currently on a different visa (A2) and I want to know when do I need to change my status to F-1 in order to get the OPT?

I want to do it as close to my graduation as possible because of the huge difference in tuition.

I believe it is 9 months of full course load. Check with your DSO.
