I completed my interview today. I answered correctly all the questions, writing and reading part. The officer asked me questions about my application/went through with me my naturalization application. I signed all paperworks, id, and forms. then she told me that my case will be reviewed and will have to wait for a written decision in the mail regarding my case.

The officer told me that this id due to the fact that i have been out of the country for more than 180 days in the past 5 years.

I have been a resident since 1998. stayed for two years for junior high. Went back to my country every school year because i took high school and two years of college back at my country. So I was gone in a period of 10 months every year from 2000-2006. then on December of 2006 is when i finally settled here in United States and continued my college career.

What mostly will be the decision of USCIS on my case? I was really looking forward to my naturalization. I thought everything was set for me.

Did he tell you how long it will take for you get the written decision?

Nope. told me to just wait for a mailed letter.

Will they deny my application? I'm really lost in this situation right now because I've gone through the whole process and had the examination on English and U.S. history and government today.

jnelle06-

YOU will be fine! All you have to do is wait as the officer said for a decision in the mail. It happens all the time that applicants wait when a case needs a supervisor to review before final approval.

all the best!

I wonder how do you qualify for your citizenship when in the last 5 years one of your trip was more than 180 days. Staying out of US for more than 6 months break the continuous of residence clause and one has to start all over unless you have an approved N-470.

Did you not know about this rule when you submitted your form, I wonder.
