Transfering from H4 to F1

Hi,
I was on H4 but in september' 04 I transfered to F1 and in december'04 I graduated . I am expecting my OPT around January'05 End. I wanted to go to India in Jan end. so I have to go for the F1 visa stamping. I heard from people that my chances of F1 rejection are very high as I will be already on OPT and I am already Graduated so the officer might ask me why do I need F1 stamp. Please help me, let me know if someone went thru this same experence.

Hey Gayatri,
I am under similar situation, with the difference that i came to know about this restamping in India thing before transferring my H-4 to F1. I know that their are more chances of rejection to F1, when in India. I hope you find out right information before you actually go to India. However, i have one question for you. Do we need to have some number of credits left before we transfer from H-4 to F1. I will be graduating in Jan 2006, and i am planning to change my visa in september 2005, and in last semester i have only 9 creits left, do i need to keep more or that is fine. This info is really important for me as (if it is more then 9 credits) i will be taking less credits this coming semister, which is on Jan 21, 2005.

Normally the Consular officer will issue a visa till you OPT validity and not the full validity visa.

i don't have the answer, but for a long time i've been asking people whether there is a certain amt. of time 8 or 9 months to be on F1 to get OPT?
I would really appreciate if u answer this, as it seems u were on F1 for just 4 months (sep'04 to dec'04).
