Hi All,

We are in the process of filling out the I-864. I am the beneficiary and my wife is the petitioner. A few questions I have as follows:-

I am in London, UK.

1.) Owing to a shortfall in the earnings and assets of my wife, I want to put down my assets to fill the shortfall. I have a house and I shall be putting the value minus the mortgage debt in Part 7 26 b. Would a valuation letter by an Estate agency suffice?

2.) I also have Gold but I am not sure if it is counted as an asset? If it is counted as an asset can I put this in Part 7 26 c?

3.) Also how can I have the value of gold appraised? I have the original receipts. Can I just calculate with the latest rate of gold and put a figure. OR do I need a jeweller do the appraisal?

4.) I have also read that British Pensions also count towards my assets. I am still 30 and have a long time to retire but can I put the amount that my pension as accumulated till date as an asset?

Thank you for taking the time to read. What other things apart from stocks, bonds, certificates of deposit can I show? Any ideas.

Thanks.

1. Yes.
2. yes.
3. If it is pure gold, you can count the value of the gold yourself. It is a jewelry, you should get it appraised.
4. No.

Thanks for your reply.

Also more ideas coming into my mind with regards to assets:-

1.) I have got fixed deposits and savings in India of value $9,000+. Can I show this in Part 7 26 a. / c.?

2.) Also I own a freehold property in India. Can the value of this be shown as well?

3.) If the above can be shown on I-864 then do I need to have the values from above certified from a Certified Public Accountant in India or here in the UK? OR Can I just show the original bank statements and fixed deposit receipts? and for the house just show the original deed and the letter from bank that the loan on it has been paid off.

My processing will be done in London-UK and I am British Citizen with OCI and Indian origins.

ALSO I DO APOLOGISE IF MY TIMELINE IN THE SIGNATURE IS NOT APPROPIATE. PLEASE LET ME KNOW AND I'LL REMOVE IT.
