Do I need a transit visa to travel to India Via Canada?

i am travelling to India from USA via Canada. I am citizen of India. Not sure if I need transit visa. Please help me

This is wierd but this is how it works and I have experienced this more than once even though I had a H1.

1. You Outbound journey to Asia/Other SE countries originating from US -- You Do not need a Transit VISA
(Lets say you are in transit visa vancouver / Toronto)

2. However when you return to the US Via canada -- YOU MUST HAVE A TRANSIT VISA .... how stuid ( that is the system).


When i tried to board a Cathy pacfic flight from Bangkok bound from New York via Hong Kong ( I was asked for this), the airline then told me that they would now cancel my ticked and rebook me via LA as they have to pay a 4K fine if they let me on board.

So I would suggest get a Transit Visa.
