Hello

I came to U.S.A in 2000 to study my Bachelors and I lost my passport
with my F1 Visa and the I-94 card. I applied for my I-94 card replacement
and it was issued by INS. I also applied for a new passport to the
Indian Embassy in Washington DC and it was issued to me.

My problem is I do have a I-94 issued by INS and a new passport without
a F1 Visa. I need to travel outside U.S. How can I get my F1 Visa in
the new passport.

Please advice.

Raj

hi friend,
if you have a xerox copy of your previous passport then everything would be fine, based on your passport number your records would be there. i think you might have given a copy of your visa at internationl programs. everything would be fine.

As far as I know, you need to go to an american consulate outside USA and get a new visa stamped.

Please make sure you have a police report and a copy of your old passport. Talk to the International Office in your school before you leave the country

Hi there,

I am in the same situation I lost my passport in US. How do I get the VISA restamped. One more thing I am on my OPT. Is it advisable to go to Canada or Mexico for restamping.

Please Help!

Stamping during OPT was not recommended earlier. With the introduction of 29 month OPT, things might have changed. Talk to your DSO.
