I have got B1 : 10 years multiple entry in Jan 2005. That point I did not apply B2 VISA for my wife.

I travelled alone on B1 and returned back well within I-94 date.

We thought of applying B2 for my wife for my next visit.

The result was she went for interview and her VISA got rejected . The comment was It is surprising that you did not apply for B2 with your husband"

Is it necessary to apply B1/B2 together ?

Any suggestions/comments ?

It is not necessary to apply together.

Thanks for the response.

But I am not clear on the reason of rejection then how do I go about this while re-applying. Again officer may ask the same question.

Other thought comes to my mind is my wife's sister has Green Card. Does that affect ? If yes what needs to be done?

They normally don't tell detailed and precise reason. They may ask same question again. You can tell 'he already has visa'. 'I was busy some work earlier' etc.

Wife's sister greencard:
That may matter. But that is nothing you can do about that fact.

What is the timeframe I shd re-apply for the VISA after the rejection so that there are better chances to get the VISA next time ?
