self + spouse + India born child

We are ready to apply for US citizenship ( self , wife and my nine year old son who was born in India )

Since N-400 is only for people over 18 yrs age, I don't know what form to fill for my son. Some people say N-600, but technically my son can't apply for citizenship on N-600 until and unless one of the parents is a US citizen.

DO we then have to make it a 2 stage process i.e. apply for self and wife in the first stage and then later apply for my son using our citizenship ?

Did you ever figure what needs to be done?. I am in similar boat like you. Would someone clarify please?. Does it have to be 2 stage process? ( First apply N-400 for both of us and later apply N-600 for my India born child??).
