Bar Code In Ds-156

Hi,
What is the difference between the Online form with barcode and fillable PDF form for DS-156.
When I try filling the online form does not accept the character -, but in the instructions it says you can???
Any suggestions.

1. You can use either form. If you use the barcoded form, people at consulate may not have to enter all the information and it may be faster.
2. Try using some other character such as blank space instead of -

i've been to embassy today and belive me there are no hassles as regards the barcodes are concerned u'll get them at the window where the photographs are checked.
cheers these days visas are falling like cats and dogs. jus take all the possible crisp documents and believe me u'll have to pay entire 7000/- rupees.
