Dear Sir/Mam,
My father is in a USA (LA) from the last 2-3 years & my Mother is in India. My father pay all the taxes as per law of united states. My father uses my mother's (dependant on my father) name in the return for reduce the tax as advise by his accountant. Now the payable tax amount is appx 3000-3500$, which deposit date is very close. The accountant say to my father if you want to refund this payable amount of tax then give me your wife's passport copy with attestation (Notary) from US Embassy in India. My Query is can we attest my mother's passport copy from US Embassy in India. If anyone know about that pls. reply asap. Thanks in Advance.

You can get a notorized copy of the passport. The US Embassy is supposed to be able to do this but they are usually too busy with other things. You can get an Indian notary to do it as long as the notary mark is an apostille (raised mark). You will probably have to pay extra for that.
