Multiple vs Single Entry

Hi,

I have a multi entries tourist visa for Canada (valid for 2 years). If go to Canada, all flights from my country to Canada have alayover in USA...most likely, my flight back home will also transit through USA...so a single entry wouldn't make sense at all.

Is the C1 visa (transit) always delivered as a single entry visa or it can be delivered for multiple entries for an extended period of time?

As a feedback for my case, even if I applied for a C-1 visa, they gave me a 10 years B1/B2 visa :D
