I am on L2 visa and my husband is on L1B type visa. I have EAD and I am working here for past 1 year. Since I am working as a contractor I cannot stick with the same company. So far I worked for 2 different companies during this 1 year. So I cannot ask them for Green card sponsorship money.

If I am willing to pay for the Green card process out of my pocket will I still need to stick with the same company?

Can I apply directly for Green card with the help of a lawyer without getting sponsorship from my company?

Thanks in advance for your reply
