Visitor visa extension for my mother

Hi,

My parents got 10 year multiple visa in Feb 2005 and they came to US on 12th Feb. They have their I-94 stamped until 12th August. My father already left in July and I have applied visa extension for my mother, got the receipt also. But hearing a lot of news from friends and colleagues, i am worried a lot whether to extend her stay or send her according to the original plan.
Actually how does the extenion work ? How would it impact on existing multiple visa and reentering into US after a year or so?

Suggestions needed as soon as possible.

If you extend now, what will happen in future is quite subjective and it is very difficult to say in advance.
