  • Typo in passport number. Incorrect Information on Appointment Letter.

I have scheduled the appointment for mumbai. After scheduling it i read the letter it has a typo in the passport number I missed out one number in my passport and now i cannot edit it since it is already edited. I called up help desk and they said either you have to notify the back office and get it corrected over there(i.e while getting finger printed @ OFC appointment) or cancel the appointment and send an email to support they will be able to correct it for you. The issue here is they have very less amount of available spots on that date so i am concerned. Did any one has faced some similar situation or know the solution out of it. Please reply. Thanks

FYI: DS 160 has all the information correct its just the letter that has a typo in it.

I also made a typo on my passport number & already done with interview yesterday. So not sure what will happen, it would be very helpful if you let me know what happened with your case.

    Thanks,

I emailed them and they corrected it within 24 hours. Just send them the scanned copy of the passport first and last page. It got corrected on all the documents too. When I went in the system and reprinted the appointment letter it was with the correct passport number.

          Thanks for the help.

            Hi,

Ii made the same mistake but when I requested for change of passport number through the provide feedback menu, bu they replied that " Your appointment is already scheduled, therefore we will not be able to make any changes to the profile. Hence, we request you to carry on with the same appointment, letting the officials at the Visa Application Center know about the changes to be honored on the day of biometrics interview".

So, Can you tell which email ID did you sent the mail to ?

            Thanks
            Saurabh

Saurabh - Could you correct it during biometrics?

                I have the same situation.
The helpline I called told me to go ahead and let them know during the OFC. But the email I received is a bit unclear.

@Saurabh/Pratb: Could you correct it during the OFC? or did you face any trouble during the process?

I am in the same boat. Everything is fine except I have a 1 digit typo in the Appointment Confirmation letter. Call center has asked me to proceed with the scheduled interview date and let them know about this discrepancy during the biometrics. I see people above have had the same situation and I am curious to know what happened?

I am also on the same situation, where the Company's Immigration team booked appointment for my spouse with incorrect passport number., When asking Immigration team " They asked me to get it corrected at Bio-Metric" ... Is that something accepted ?

                          Hi all,

Date:- 26-Dec-2019. I applied for B1 & B2 VISA, I did the same mistake while typing passport number in Appointment Letter, I have given application number instead of passport number. I sent mail to correct typo error in Appointment Letter to mail id and got reply. They advise me to let officers knew while attending bio-metrics. I did the same and they noted the typo error and they sent a mail internally. The very next day I have interview in Chennai US-Consulate. Attended and VISA got Approved. Rules are changing day by day, need to be patience and relax while filling the application as well as appointment.

                          Thanks. Regards, Saravanan

I have already scheduled my appointment and the passport number in my CGI federal portsl and on appointment letter is incorrect but it is correct in ds 160. How can I changed the passport no. in the CGI portal without getting my appointment cancelled?

Can anyone update regarding their experience please?

                              I'm also facing same issue.

On CGI Federal Profile, for appointment, my passport number has typo mistake. However on DS160, all info is correct.

The help desk suggested to proceed to interview as the fee is already paid so no changes can be made now.

I don't want to face any type of rejection due to this.

If anyone can guide from their experience, it would be very helpful

                              Thanks.
