  • Marriage certificates

The US embassy uses the same form letter, with errors (both omissions, and grammar), for just about every visa. I was reviewing our documents. There is an ambiguous requirement. The requirement says "Married applicants, including the petitioner, must provide marriage certificates and divorce certificates for all terminated marriages...."!

I have my divorce decree, and the death certificate for her husband. We do not have the original marriage certificates. I assume that the marriage certificates are not required. We are only weeks from our interview!

Please excuse my typing. I am using an iPhone!

I think you are reading too much from the Embassy narrative instructions.

If married, one must provide a certified marriage certificate.

If divorced or widowed, including ALL previous marriages, you must provide certified divorced (or dissolution, annulments, judgments, etc.) documents or death certificates.

There is no standard requirement that both marriage and termination documents need be provided for the same terminated marriages, UNLESS USCIS, NVC OR EMBASSY SUSPECTS FRAUD BECAUSE OF INCONSISTENCY OF REPORTED DATES.
