  • Experience of I-130 Application for Same-Sex Couples (Nebraska Center)

Hello, everyone. We are new to this thread, and wanted to connect and share experiences with couples going through the same process as us.

We are a same-sex, married couple that filed our petition in October 2013. We have been notified by mail that our application has been accepted, LIN assigned and it has been sent to the Nebraska centre for processing.

It has been over 6 months now, and we have not received any updates. We checked on the USCIS website and it advises that the average processing time is now 5 months. It was 8 months when we last checked in December/ January.

    Does anyone know:

    1) If the 5 months processing time is the actual waiting time it takes just to pick up and review your case file from the line? Or is it the time it takes for them to review and respond? Has anyone has a similar experience? I have read on the forums that the Nebraska centre is quite slow.

    2) There after, how long is the average waiting time to schedule the interview, and how long after that before the green card is issued after the interview?

If anyone has any advice or stories they want to share, so we can get a better idea of the process, then that would be very much appreciated.
