  • Query about F-1 Visa Inetrview from India

    Hi,

My visa interview is due soon and I am confused about some of the documents that I need to show. My course of study is MBA and the duration is of 21 months. The total expense, for two years, including tution and living expense is around 40l. Out of this, I have a loan of 30l and the rest of 10l will be covered by my savings. I have the following queries:

    1. I will obtain the loan sanction letter and it will state the approved amount as 30l in INR. Is that okay or do I need to ask the bank to mention the amount in USD as well?

    2. For the liquid cash that I have, I can furnish e-statements. Is that enough? I do not have a passbook for the account. Do I need to get the e-statements stamped by the branch? And how far do I need to go back while fetching the statements? I mean, if I print a statement for a year, is that enough?

    3. The savings bank that I have is a joint one with my wife. Will that be a problem?

    4. My wife will be staying back in India during the duration of my study. I have not applied for her dependent Visa. Is that a sufficient reason to show that I have got family ties and I will be returning to India? I can furnish proof that she is working in India.

    5. I almost all the places that I have checked the requirement for a CA statement has been mentioned. What do you need to mention in a CA statement? In my case is that required? I have a property and I can get it valuated. But do I need to do that to show family ties back in India?

I know that these are a lot of questions. But I will be really grateful, if these are answered. I am sure it will help others who are in a similar situation as that of mine.

    Thanks in anticipation,

I have answered your questions below numbered for your convenience

    1. USD conversion is not needed. Your visa officer knows conversion rules
    2. e-statements are enough, stamping is not needed. 6-months is the historical extent.
    3. No, it is preferred
    4. Yes, it is sufficient, nothing more is needed

Please have a plan in place on loan repayment options if asked. Remember you are allowed only 20 work hours a week on F-1 and that too after satisfying certain credit hour requirements so the repayment authority will be your wife and you need to show this is not a problem..

    All the best
