  • Urgent question about F1 visa interview?

I am going for my F1 visa interview in two weeks. I have my I-20, Form DS-160, Form I-901 and receipt, acceptance letter to the college, letter stating that I will be an Honors student and also a student ambassador, test scores, transcripts (from my high school), bank statements proving necessary funds as well as other extras I might need.

I have a sponsor in the US but they will not be giving me any money, they are simply giving me a place to live so I can save costs by not living on campus. My parents will be paying for everything so I am wondering, what do I need from my sponsors? I already have a notarized letter stating that they will be sponsoring my living accomodations. Since they are not going to be paying for school or for anything related to me, what do I need? (I was told I won't need tax forms since they are not giving me their money). I want to make sure that I have all necessary documents.

The reason why I need documents from them is because my school stated in my I-20 that I have a sponsorship so obviously I need to prove that.

Also, what can I expect from my interview? I'm going for a Bachelor's program.

You will do just fine. I-20 indicates sponsorship, which does not mean the US party but could be anyone. It simply shows that funds are guaranteed. You have covered everything. Don't forget to buy international health insurance coverage or show knowledge that you need it after arrival.

    All the best
