I am currently on OPT (F1) visa that expires on Jun 10, 2014. My company filed my H1B (premium processing) on Apr 1, 2014 and I got selected in the lottery. As per my immigration team, I will get my visa approval confirmation in 2-3 weeks from today. Even if I get the approval, my H1B won’t start until Oct 1, 2014 so I will apply for OPT cap gap extension from Jun 9 to Sep 30.
I need your expert advice on the following:
1. What kind of visa should we apply for my wife – F2 or B1/B2 ?
2. Should we wait to get my visa approval confirmation and then apply for my wife’s visa or it wouldn’t matter even if we apply for it this week ?
3. Will it be a problem for her at POA (if she gets F2 visa) as currently my visa extends only upto Jun 9 ? She is planning to come to US on Jun 5.
