  • Visiting Wife in U.S.

Hi, I am a Canadian citizen who has been visiting my girlfriend in the US. She was given an exclusion order by Canadian immigration and cannot enter Canada for 1 year, so I have been traveling across the border into the US to visit her every second weekend or so. We got married in late April in the U.S. Since that time I have visited her twice in the U.S. with no issue, however I stated that I was visiting my girlfriend, not my wife. I was concerned I might be hassled, and it had always been so easy to cross into the U.S. during previous trips when i said I was visiting my girlfriend.

I feel I should tell the truth, however, especially since my wife now has the same last name as I do. Will it be difficult for me to cross into the U.S. for the weekend if I say I am visiting my wife? And will the fact that I did not say I was visiting my wife during the previous two visits get me into any trouble? Will they know what I had said? If I tell them I was married in April, they will know I had been in the U.S. twice since then.
