To Mexico with reentry permit. PLEASE HELP

Iam a permanent resident in US, trough marriage
I have my green card and expired russian passport ( iam a citizen of Russia), renewing my russian passport is close to impossible. Can I travel to Mexico ( family vocation) with just green card and reentry permit? ( I do have my birth certificate also)

Hey Angelina,

I've a similar problem as I have no passport, and the only travel mean I can use is the reentry permit. USCIS says that a reentry permit serves as a travel document and can be used for international travels as a substitute to passports.

I applied for one last week and need to use it primarily for a short trip to Europe. Can you please update us if you managed to use it to travel to Mexico? Did you face any problem ... etc?
