  • Do I need to renew my EAC after receiving 2 year green card?

    Hello everyone,

I have just received my 2 year green card, which I know it gives me the right to work. I also have my Employment Authorization Card (EAC), which it is valid for 1 year. The expiration date of the EAC is this year and my question is do I need to renew my EAC to continue working? Or now that I have a green card, I can use the green card it self and forget the EAC?

One details is that on my social security card says "VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH DHS AUTHORIZATION". Since I have the green card now, do I have to get a new SSN Card without this text? Or do I have to renew the EAC and in 2 years process for the 10 year green card?

I really appreciate the help, I have paid a ton of money in this process and my lawyer will not give me simple information without starting a new process. I would really appreciate any information.

    Sincerely,
    Alexandre Silva

    Alexandre,

Once you have the Green Card, the EAD is not needed.

Take your Green Card to an SSA office and ask them to reissue your SSN card without the DHS annotation.
