  • NVC confusion

Last week I send email to NVC to check if they had received my case for K1 visa from USCIS. On Friday I received email from NVC with case number and when I checked case status on NVC web site I got message that I need to fallow instruction in the letter and complete 6 steps before they will send case to Embassy and set appointment for my fiancé. Today I checked case status agin and I get message that case is in transit to consulate and that my fiancé should receive appointment date and time.
I never send any documents to NVC, so how can my case be in transit? Or is this mistake on part of NVC?

You encountered a typical example of poor training of NVC employees.

The first letter you received was the typical response to "immigrant visa" inquiries, i.e., the "six steps."

The second letter was to tell you that your K1 package was treated as normal, and forwarded to the Embassy for routine fiancee visa processing wihout having to submit anythng to the NVC.

      Thanks.

So there are no 6 steps at all for k1 visa?

Not during the NVC process. Once the case reaches the Embassy, however, each Embassy has its own set of steps one must follow for a K1 visa.
