  • Student dependent visa and SEVIS

I am on F-1 visa and recently got new I-20 after my information was entered in SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System). I also got an I-20 for my wife who is in India. Her I-20 was also obtained by entering her information in SEVIS. However, when she applied for the US visa, it was rejected because her information was not found in SEVIS database.

I know SEVIS is new and still evolving system, but I am curious to know whether someone else also faced the same problem and what they did.

    Thanks!

Sorry to hear about that. I am on J-1 visa without the 2 year rule but recently i was forced to leave the company that my sponsor arranged me. I got an email from them that if i don't leave the US within 10 days i will be reported to SEVIS as someone who cannot enter the US again. I applied for f-1 visa and waiting to get my papers and go back home to get the stamp on my passport. The sponsor told me that even if i get the I-20 form my visa will be denied
