Marrying while on OPT (F-1)
Hi,
I am currently on OPT(F-1) and my OPT (17 Month Extension) is valid up to July 2011. I'm planning to go to India for getting married in July or August of 2010 and bring my spouse here on F-2. I am aware of the documentation required, but I wanted to know the chances of F-2 Visa approval. I would also be applying for H-1B in the early 2011. I should also be taking into consideration of H-1cap gap at that time since my OPT (F-1) will be expiring in July 2011. Can my spouse be still on F-2 while my H1B is in process or can I apply H-4 for her simultaneously along with my H1 application. If I cannot apply H-4 for her what are my options so that she maintains a legal status? Can someone give me suggestions and share your experiences about this situation?
