Post I-130 approved got NVC number starting with BMB though i live in usa

    Hi all,

Me and my wife currently living in USA. I am on H1B and my wife is permanent resident. She filed family based GC for me under F2A category in Aug 2011. In june 2012 i got I-130 approved. But the NVC case number is BMBXXXXXXXXXX and in online i found BMB stands for Mumbai consulate , does that mean i will get visa interview in Mumbai when my visa number is available. If yes how it works, i live and work in USA legally and how can they assign me BMB number. Can some one please clarify. Let me know if needed more information.

    Thanks in Advance.

NVC assigns case numbers by the citizenship you hold this does not matter if you are legally in the USA. Just be patient and let your case become current then if you are still in the US, you can request to have the interview in USA. In either case you shall have to furnish all the documents, police certificates (from your time in India) as well when the case becomes current.

I would not worry too much about this until the case becomes current.
