Staying after I94 Expiration date

Hello All,

My Mother came to USA with B2 visa and her I94 will expire on 14th July 2012.
But she is getting ticket to return on 23rd July 2012.

Should she apply for B2 visa extension.

If she does not get extension can she stay 9 days after the I94 last date (14th July 2012) and return on 23rd July.

Since she has plan to re enter in Nov 2012 will she have any problem if she returns on 23rd July 2012.

If she overstays the date on her I-94 , her visa will automacially become void and
she will not be able to enter again on that visa.

If she applies for an extension before july 14th, she will be legal till the response comes.
But applying for an extension so late is not advised as the response come after 2-3 months.
So , if it is a denial or approval, she will have difficulty entering in NOv. (as she stayed 6 mos +
extension and then back again in NOV.)

I strongly suggest that she should leave before july 14th .

I have a friend coming on 7/13/2012. Her B1/B2 Visa expires on July 19, 2012. She wants to extend it. Can it be done and when should she request it? She would like to stay untl late August. Any commenst or advise? What happens if she leaves before the extention is granted or denied in August? Will she have problems when applying for K1 or another Visa next year?
