Visitor visa extension ( travelling to another country and come back to US)

Hi

i would like to extend the visitor visa ( B2) of my mom. i-94 expires Oct 6.
question is:


instead of applying for extension at USCIS site, can she travel to Mexico and come back within a day. will that help in getting her a new i-94.
we stay in San Diego so Mexico border is close by.

would appreciate any response on this
