Name change on Indian Passport

My wife wants to change he last name from before marriage to after marriage last name on her passport. We both are in US right now and planning to do it in Indian Embassy in Chicago. She has L2 visa with before marriage last name which is also present on her 1-94 attached to passport. If she change the last name while we are here; will it cause any problem while going back?

Nope.. you can apply for your wife' name change.
I did for my wife..
they are gonna issue new Passport..
They are going to make a note at the observations page
(This passport has been issed due to name change ..something like that..)

I too have similar problem but the only difference is, we are not planning to go to India yet. Will be filing my H4 extension in few months (6 month). Should I go ahead and apply for a name change and get a new passport. Will there be any issue for getting extension in this regard. How will US office come to know that I am a same person but with a new name.

My wife is on H1-B and we want to change her maiden last name. The procedure of changing the last name on passport is relatively easy, but how is that tied to last name on VISA and SSN ? Do we have to change the name on VISA too? especially we are planning to visit India and will have to get the VISA stamped. Also, do we need to get an approval from District county court?
