Default Reentry permit and green card question

    Hi,

I am a GC holder and planning to come back to the US with a reentry permit after staying outside US for 2 years, right before the reentry permit expired. then I plan too stay in the US for 2-3weeks and will leave again. but I will be back for good within a year. in my case, will I need a reentry permit for my 2nd trip since I will be back within a year? I planned to get my RP extend for another year, but afraid don't have enough time. since I will be back for 2-3weeks, will it "reset" the requirement for GC holder that if you were outside US within a year, you can come back with just GC.

    any advice would help.
    thanks
    Dan

Default cover letter re entry permit, it's good enough?

Re: I-131 Application for Lior Salomon

    Dear Sir/Madam:
I am requesting issuance of a Re-Entry permit allowing me to be out of the US for up to 2 years.
It is necessary for me to return to my country of Citizenship for personal and educational reasons.
I have no intention of abandoning my residence in the US and am maintaining my residence, financial ties, social ties and family ties.
I am enclosing the following document in support of my application for reentry permit:

    1. I-131
    2. Copy of my I-551.
    3. Photographs
    4. $445 filing fee

    Your cooperation is appreciated

    Very truly yours

You don't need a cover letter unless you're applying for an expedited permit. Just send the other stuff in.
