Visa Interview for K1

Hi Everyone,

I am a new member to the site and I was looking for some information.

I am from Australia and am engaged to a US citizen we have a K1 petition pending. We plan to travel to Europe for a month or two next year and I am just a little worried that it may conflict with my interview date etc... for the visa. Can someone tell me what I need to do in Australia for the visa? I know the medical and then obviously the interview but other than that is there anything else??

Also, does anyone know how long after the interview I will get my visa if approved? Will it be same day?

The only things you need to do in Australia are, as you mention, the medical exam and the visa interview itself. Once you have the visa you don’t have to deal with the embassy anymore. Usually the embassy will issue the visa either the same day as the interview or the following day. After that it shouldn’t take more than one or two weeks before you have it.
