I-551 Queries

Hi,
1. For "first time" stamping of I-551, how early should one reach at SJ office? I saw on this board that for "restamping" it was quick, but my case is for first time.
2. I changed my job early this year, but my previous employer kept my GC going. Now it is approved :-) Do I need to carry anything special in this circumstance for 551 stamping? Do you think INS care about it at this stage?

first time same as any subsequent in term of hours.

If you stopped working for your sponsor, I don't think it is legal (unless you exploited the new 180 days rule and notified INS) and most likely considered as fraud.
However, you are very likely to get away with it, all they will do is take your finger prints at this time. Be careful so this will not haunt you in the furute.
