New immigrants or greencard holders are not eligible to purchase Atlas America.

You should either purchase Patriot America or Bridge Plan. However, Bridge plan is available only to the people who are 60 years and above.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

      Breaking News:

We just came to know that Patriot America will soon provide the coverage for 'Sudden and Unexpected Recurrence of Pre-Existing Conditions' up to $50,000 for people below the age of 65 years and $2,500 for 65+.

We don't know the exact details yet as they are still being prepared. Documents are not ready yet anywhere.

As soon as they are available, we will update our web site and announce it here.

Please note that this coverage is NOT available as of yet, but is expected to be available soon.

            For your parents age group,

Patriot America - You can choose policy max $50,000, $100,000, $500,000 or $1,000,000
Patriot Platinum America - You can choose policy max $1,000,000, $5,000,000, $8,000,000

            In network coverage:
Patriot America: After deductible, pays 90% to first $5,000, then 100% to policy max.
Patriot Platinum America: After deductible, pays 100% to policy max.

If you choose $1,000,000 policy max at insubuy.com, you will see both plans and you can compare them side by side.

New Patriot Plans (with the changes described in this thread) are not live yet. We are told again today that expected date is tomorrow, May 3.

Please feel free to post here or contact us at any time, if you have any more questions.

              Thanks for your quick response,
Why they are not eligible to buy Atlas america? ... Yes they have green card visa, its their first trip here in the USA, so we are not sure if they will stay for good, we hope they will...

Atlas America covers outside home country. And they consider that green card holder's home country is United States, irrespective of circumstances. Therefore, you can't purchase Atlas America to purchase coverage in the US for green card holders.

On the the other hand, Patriot plans allow you to designate your home country, especially in your case they are not even in the US yet. Therefore, their home country can be India.

                      Hello again;
I just realized that my dad will turn 65 in June this year, so if i buy patriot america, then the sudden acute onset of pre existing condition will only cover $2500. Can i buy 2 policies? One from patriot america since they can have up to 1 million of coverage and a comprhensive plan and 1 from inbound immigrant since they cover sudden acute onset of pre existing up to the maximum policy which $100,000. If i understand it correctly.
So can i carry 2 policies for my Dad?

If you buy two policies, both will be considered secondary to each other. In that case, both companies will ask you to claim from the other company first. Eventually, they will end up doing coordination of benefits. Whether it may work to out to be good or not is questionable and may vary on case by case.

Therefore, we generally don't recommend two policies. But you are not prohibited from buying two policies.
                        Thanks & Regards
