    Default Promotions - after GC

Can a person be promoted to a different role within the same employer after getting a GC. For example if labor certification job duties were for software development, can the person be promoted to Software Manager after getting a GC, are there any restrictions ?

Yes. Also, nobody will ever ask for this information.
Some people were promoted to managers while waiting to get GC, and they got their GC approved.

Note that promotions *before* you get the GC are problematic. The job description has to match the LC. If it does not, a new LC is required. If somebody got a GC despite a change in the job description, then that person would have committed immigration fraud.
With promotions after the GC, you may need to be careful as well. You got the GC because the employer had an immediate requirement for a specific job, as specified in the LC. Now if a person gets promoted right after getting the GC, it looks as if the job wasn't really required at all. So wait some months before accepting a promotion.

    JoeF is right.

However, INS does not track these things and they also never ask for this information again.
e.g. when you apply for citizenship, you are required to tell them of employment for past 5 years and they don't ask for titles.

To be perfectly on the safe side, would be wise to wait a while for change in title or job description.
