Tavel to India while H-1B pending

Hi,

Currently I am on OPT which expires next year. My company will file this year for H1B with Consular petition as I am planning to travel to India in May. Can you please let me know what are the risks involved and would I be able to re-enter US while waiting for H1B to get approved even with Consular petition?
