  • Can a DUI give me a hard time travelling to the US? Getting a Visa?

I'm going to get a wet and reckless or DUI not sure yet but I'm not a citizen. If I'm travelling outside the US and have to apply at the embassy for my F1 Visa again are they going to see that in my record? Can they not give me the Visa because of that? I also planned a trip to Mexico in October and have to go through immigration - I only have my I-20 and I-94 since I changed my status in the US. Could they not let me back in because of my record?

Be honest about the charge and you will be fine. DUI will be detected in a name entry event into any CBP or ICE computer so just state the facts - you must do this. DUI is a serious problem if a crime of moral turpitude was also involved such as drugs were discovered in your vehicle or you left the scene of an injury incident caused by you. If none of these apply, you will be okay.

    All the best
