Does anyone have any idea on typically how much does an attorney charge for the AC-140 final stage, or do they charge in bulk for the entire GC process ?

My lawyer charged me $1000 + FedEx/Photocopy charges ($84) even though she had no idea what this AC I-140 was all about. I educated her about it, prepared all the papers myself, gave the bundle to her, she signed it and sent it.
So she charged $1000 to just sign the papers.
(We are talking about Dec 1999 when only 6 people in India had done AC I-140 before me.)
