Does Advance degree help to extend H1B duration?

Hi all,
I am currently on H1B and my 1st term will be over in September. I am also pursuing part time PhD. My current employer does not want to sponsor my green card.
I want to pursue my PhD part time and continue on with 2nd term of my H1B visa. Does Advance degree help to extend H1B duration? i.e. will I get another 6 years on H1B?

If GC is not filed timely you would have to stay out of US for an entire year and then apply afresh in the cap provided cap is open when you 1 year outside US period finishes. Yes, advance degree would help as you would be part of the quota of 20,000 reserved for advance degree holders. But then again there is no guarantee of a fresh H1. Thousands of advanced degree as well as many PhD. Holders didn't get it this year.
