H1B selected, but rejected beacuse of a white out on the ckeck

I got selected for the H1B, but the check - and the whole petition was rejected cause of a white out on the check (the lawyer whited out a part of the address). The letter was send back end of April with the comment - no resubmission possible. Unfortunately the lawyer didn't forward that information till last week.
Does anybody of you had this issue before? Is there any way to file an appeal against this decision?
