Default Do i need a lawyer to file for change of status?

    LISA

I was wondering what difference it would make if i filed by myself rather than use a lawyer to file for change of status. Is that a sensible idea?I just got married dec 2005 and I am a student of F-1 Status. In college,my school has an immigration center where they assist people in filing and they also told me that they have a lawyer there...and that they can help me in the procedures of filing for change of status and preparations of interviews etc and it's a free services.I'm wondering if i should use that or find a lawyer of my own though i don't know any lawyers who is highly recommended in the filing process. Most of the few law offices that i called had a charging range from $1500 to upwards....what can i do?
