  • L1 Visa Expiry: 2017, PED Expiry: 2015. Can someone help with stamping details?

    Hi Experts,

    I'm on L1 blanket
my petition is expiring Mar 2015
    PED expiry date: Mar 2015
    i94 Expiry: Mar 2015
    Visa Expiry date: Jan 2017

I understand that I need to file for my petition extension. Once I get an extended petition, do I need to get a new stamp on my passport or the current stamp would suffice (as the visa expiry date is Jan 2017).

PS: I am planning to travel to India once i get my extension.

I have a similar case and my understanding is : since visa expiration date is in 2017, a new stamp is not needed but an updated Petition might be needed. The new petition will have to be carried every time entering US.
However, it will be worth checking with your Company's immigration team, as they can only confirm the course.
I would really request you to update this post in case you get to know something in this regard, as I'm also looking for a confirmed answer.
    Thanks

      PED/Visa expiring before I129S

      Hi Experts,

Recently I got L1 blanket approval

I129S- stamped for 3 years starting august 2014
PED - ends in june 2015
Visa expiry date: End in June 2015 (same as PED)

I am moving to US in October, 2014

My question is: Beyond June 2015, what would be the case,
      (a) Need to get back India, and apply for the fresh L1 Visa with new blanket petition.
      (b) Since my company would be applying for blanket petition renewal, my visa would automatically extended. I just need to get it re-stamped. If that's the case (which i think is not), would this re-stamping be done from US or India ?

      Appreciate your comments. Thanks.

Strange, normally L1 Blanket petitions dont have an End Date.

A lot depends upon the I-94 you get at the time of your entry into US in Oct 2014.
        a. If you get I-94 only till June 2015, you would need to apply for extension.
        b. No if Company is applying Blanket renewal the petition gets extended not the visa. If you want to get it new visa for the new petition, visa stamping can only happen outside US at a US consulate , not from within US. What can certainly be done is applying for extension from within US to extend ones stay, but that again depends upon the I-94 expiry.

This is my opinion not legal advice.

          Hi BlueCasper

I am in the similar situation you mentioned
Petition/I797 expiry is on JAN 2017
I94 expiry is on JAN 2017
VISA expiry is on JULY 2017

My company is planning for the petition extension in JUNE 2016. After the petition extension should I apply for the visa extension even though my visa expires in JULY 2017?
If I travel to India in November should I go for the stamping for the extended petition ? (If my petition number remains the same)

In case petition number changes should the visa be stamped

            Hi All

I am on L1A (Blanket ) in US with below scenario.
            I-94 Valid until July 15th, 2022
            L1 A Visa expiry Apr 11th, 2020
            PED expiry Dec 25th, 2020
Please let me know till what date I can work in US? Also please let me know how my PED date will impact my stay in USA. Can I extend my PED while I am in US?

            Thanks
            RK
