Entering US with thumb impression in Indian passport

Hi,
My mom has thumb impression instead of signature in her passport. As she
doesn't have enough documents from her school she got her passport with
thumb impression saying she's illiterate.She's travelling to US in a week
for the first time. Can she keep her thumb impression in US customs form? Do
they accept it? Will there be any additional questions if she uses thumb
impression? Your pointers are much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I am not too sure but they do not accept thumb prints in lieu of signature. If she can sign a few letters , she should . They won't match that to the passport.

A signature, need not to contain alphabets of any language.

It can be any kind of hand written unique symbols or strokes, which should be reproduced same as previous when required.

So, even if someone is illiterate, still they can do signature in their own manner.
