  • Indian Government asking for SSN for VISA???

    hi,

I was filling out the visa application for our India visit for my child (who is born in the USA). While filling out an online application available at http://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/indianVisaReg.jsp
as indicated by the Cox And Kings process, I was led to a form that asks for Citizenship/National Id number. In the sample file at the CKGS website, available at http://www.in.ckgs.us/resources/pdf/...ation-form.pdf

It says to enter the SSN at this place. I do not feel that we should be giving out sensitive information granted by US to another country's government. I do not have time for the POI process now so need to finish this quickly. Does anyone know if they need the SSN information or if it is incorrectly given in the sample PDF.

Please respond soon as I have to take an appointment this week.

    Thanks for your response
    RK

    Put N/A on the form.

US citizens don't have Citizenship/National Id number.

SSN is not Citizenship/National Id number.

Therefore, as tampaite said, put N/A.
