Question Tourist rejected, applying for Business

    Hello all,

My husband and I were rejected for a Tourist Visa in Dec '04 for our honeymoon. At that time we were not married and had not made any bookings for hotels, as guided by our Travel Agent.

We are appearing now for a Business Visa as we want to attend a Trade Show in Orlando and stay in U.S. for 12 days. We have been allotted different times for the interview although on the same date - an hour apart from each other. So:

    1) Would this impose a problem, being interviewed separately?
    2) Are we to carry any other documents besides - DS156, DS157, Appointment Letter, Letter of Invitation, Travel Itinerary, Balance Sheets and Bank Statements, Passports, HDFC receipt?
    3) What is the likelihood for getting the visa this time around?

Thanks in advance for your help.

In view of your first denial, it would have been wise for only one of you,
who is actually concerned with the fair, to apply for the visa.
Both of you applying reduces your chances of getting the visa as there is suspicion that both of you won't come back. If only one of you travels for a
genuine business visit, the chances to get the visa are much better.

Thanks to the information on this site and the experiences listed, we got the visa!
Our interview was on the 17th at New Delhi and there were not many applicants. The consular officer was a nice young lady who had many curious questions. Our passports came in today with both stamped for B1/B2 10 years! Yipee!

    Thanks once again!
