How long does it take to get the passport from Consulate to the VFS center

Hi All,

My wife & Kid had their L2 VISA appointment on June 6th 2006 at Chennai Consulate. Their VISA processing went thru fine and the officer told that the Passport will be delivered through courier.

Meanwhile we wanted to use the Rush Service at the VFS office at chennai to collect the passport. The Rush service hours are 4PM to 5PM Monday thru Friday. My wife & Kid went to the VFS from wednesday to Friday but still their passport has not come to the VFS. VFS guys say that they have still not received the Passport. My Wife had booked the tickets to join me at US on Tuesday morning (06/13/06) but since we didnt get the passport till now, they rescheduled the tickets. The VFS guys were not cooperative too..They were not willing to answer the questions..

Can any one clarify on How long it takes (maximum) to receive the passport
from the consulate to VFS so that we can collect it. I am also having a doubt if they would have misplaced the passport ?
Is it possible for the consulate to have misplaced the passport?? If yes, will they help us on getting a new passport & a new appointment. Somebody please help me with this ..I am totally confused because my wife & kid have not received thier passport till now. it has been 4 working days now.
Whom should we contact to know the status ??

When my wife met some people who came to collect thier passports from VFS, she came to know that they had their appoint ment scheduled after June 6th (i.e some people who had thier appt on June 7th, Jun8th got their passports). Somebody please help me.

Generally it wld take 2-4 days
Misplacing of passport shld be very rare case, so dont worry

send mail to Consulate stating that U didnt received ur passport yet.
They will give u the status if they are having or they will give u details when they handedover to VFS. so u can chk with VFS.

I would like to thankyou all who helped me !!!

My Wife & Kid finally got their Passports. My Wife's VISA was stamped on June 9th and my Kid's VISA was stamped today 12th June..ThanK god...We got both the passports today..VFS guys took sometime in locating my Kid's passport but finally we got it...
