New Immigrant to USA - How Does Health Insurance Work?

Hi there

I plan to move to the USA (Florida to be precise) in the not too distant future. Just the misses and I. We plan to move on an EB-5 'Investment' Visa, get our green card and in 5 years time become citizens.

How does USA health insurance work?

I am aware of deductibles, annual policy limits and co-payments, however where I struggle is with Obamacare etc.

Is there a guide somewhere or can anyone help with this?

Obamacare is just a term for the new insurance laws, aka the affordable care act. The point of it is that you must have a compliant insurance policy. You can go to the website to SHOP for plans but since you will not qualify for any type of tax credit nor will you be eligible for a domestic insurance right away you will need to shop for temporary insurance.
